Islamabad, November 19th, 2025: The Centre for Law and Security (CLAS), hosted the launch of Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry’s recently published book, Pakistan–India Relations: Fractured Past, Uncertain Future, at TMUC Islamabad.

The session opened with Ambassador Chaudhry’s keynote address, in which he emphasized the importance of grounding analysis in rigorous research rather than personal recollections. He shared insights drawn from his long-standing reflection on Pakistan–India relations and decades of diplomatic experience. The ambassador highlighted the need for an honest, policy-driven approach to guide future decision-makers navigating the complexities of this pivotal bilateral relationship. He stressed that understanding the fractured historical trajectory of the two countries is crucial for building a stable future, particularly amid shifting global power dynamics and increasing demands on responsible statecraft.

Ambassador Sardar Masood Khan, President CLAS and TMUC, commended the book as a balanced, timely, thoroughly researched, and policy-relevant contribution, describing it as a “thoughtful roadmap” for understanding South Asia’s intricate political landscape. He praised Ambassador Chaudhry’s pivotal role in strengthening the functioning of Pakistan’s foreign ministry, enhancing the country’s image, and advancing its diplomatic engagements. Highlighting his significant imprint on the evolution of Pakistan’s diplomacy, he noted that the book reflects a tone of diplomatic realism infused with cautious optimism.

Following this, an engaging discussion on conflict legacies, confidence-building measures, and the future of the Kashmir issue, with insightful questions from TMUC faculty and students, moderated by Mr. Rehman Azhar, Executive Director CLAS.

Finally, Amb. Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry presented his book to CLAS’ President Ambassador Sardar Masood Khan and TMUC Islamabad’s Head of the Institute, Ms. Muneeze Muzaffar. The event wrapped up with the presentation of shield to Amb. Chaudhry by Ambassador Khan, Mr. Rehman Azhar and Ms. Muneeze Muzaffar.
