The Centre for Law and Security (CLAS) hosted a roundtable at the TMUC Campus titled, “Regulating AI in Pakistan and National Security,” bringing together legal and security experts to discuss AI’s role in cybersecurity, defense, and governance. The discussion was moderated by Executive Director of CLAS, Mr. Rehman Azhar and chaired by Ambassador Masood Khan, President CLAS & TMUC.

Dr. Nouman Naseer, Head of the Department of Mechatronics and Biomedical Engineering at Air University, Islamabad.
Dr. Jahanzaib Butt is an Assistant Professor of Law at Bahria Law School, Bahria University, Islamabad.
Mr. Hamdan Khan, Senior Researcher at Strategic Vision Institute, brought valuable, research-driven insights to the CLAS roundtable.
Ms. Natalia Shahrukh, Lecturer at NDU and PhD scholar in Strategic Studies, enriched the CLAS roundtable with her nuanced analysis on the role of artificial intelligence in evolving strategic paradigms.
Mr. Faizan Fakhar, Senior Research Associate at CASS, brought a strategic edge to the CLAS roundtable with his deep expertise in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

The discussion highlighted the urgent need for a regulatory framework to address data privacy, misinformation, and AI-driven security threats. Experts emphasized the importance of balancing innovation with security to harness AI’s potential while mitigating risks.
